**Hippobag
**Hippobag: Fill like a skip? Well… sort of.**
I was an idiot, READ THE SMALL PRINT!
Like so many people before me, I thought, *“Ah, that’s a good idea — a nylon skip. What a brilliant idea.”*
So I purchased a Hippobag, from Wickes (I Iike Wickes)got it home, and then actually read the small print.
**1.5 tonnes maximum.**
**25% maximum fill with earth and rubble.**
So that’s not really *“fill like a skip”* at all, is it?
Then I actually sat down and worked out the cost, and had a bit of a paddy.
A Chambers **4 cu yd skip**: **£230**, with no weight limit advertised. Obviously, if you filled it with a lump of lead, I’m sure they might have something to say — but for normal building and garden waste, that’s a different proposition.
4 cu yd is approximately **3 cubic metres**.
The Hippobag **Big Bag (L)** is:
**210cm × 165cm × 100cm = approximately 3 cubic metres**
Price: **£336.**
So, roughly the **same volume**, but the Hippobag costs **£106 more**, and you’re limited to **1.5 tonnes**, with earth and rubble restricted to **25% of the bag**.
I’ll give Hippobag credit for one thing, though. Their customer service/management team actually had the bottle to phone me after something I posted and put me right on a point. It turns out I paid for the middle size bag £237 (+-) and I should have paid £300 (+-)
They were very polite about it, I’ll give them that.
But having now looked properly at the numbers and the restrictions, I’m afraid my initial *“what a good idea!”* has turned into more of a **“hang on a minute…” or never again.**
